Tanga domestic airport is only 45 min drive, we can organise a transfer to the house or we can organise rental a car to be available for your stay. 

Mashado domestic airport is further south on the other side of the Pangani river, around 25 minute drive.

 

INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS :

The nearest international airport is Mombasa, around 3h30 hours drive with a good tarmac road to Tanga, then rough road. We can organise welcome transfers on your arrival.

 

There are daily flights to Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Arusha (Coastal Air Tanzania), as well as a speed boat or slow boat to Zanzibar. You can also take a taxi or bus from Dar or Arusha.

 

BY ROAD

Driving to Choba Bay villa from Arusha, Dar es Salaam or even Mombasa is really simple. In addition, we can provide you a Landscaper Prado 4WD Toyota vehicle (See : Our services). Dar es Salaam and Arusha hosts several car rental compagnies such as Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Europecar etc. Note that you will need a 4WD in the rainy season.

 

• From Arusha (450 Km), take the direction to Dar es Salaam, towards Moshi, Same, Mombo, Korogwe and arrive in Muheza. In Muheza there is a sign showing 42 kms to Pangani. Turn right and follow the dirt road (1 hour). Note: It is a dirt road and if it has recently rained, the road can be slippery. If the Muheza Road is not passable, continue on the tarmac another 30 minutes to Tanga. In Tanga, ask for the Pangani Road.  After 40 kms on the Pangani Road, you will see a sign on your left for an english primary school (Moto : Learn is fun) on your right hand sign, turn immediately and follow the track; The Villa is right near the primary school. 

 

•  From Dar es Salaam (350 km), go north towards Chalinze, Morogoro (direction Arusha). At the Segera crossroad, turn right and  head towards Tanga-Muheza. In Muheza there is a sign 42 kms to Pangani. Turn right and follow the dirt road (1 hour). Note: It is a dirt road and if it has recently rained, the road can be very slippery. If the Muheza Road is not passable, continue on the tarmac another 30 minutes to Tanga. In Tanga, ask for the Pangani Road.  After 42 kms on the Pangani Road, after 40 kms on the Pangani Road, arrive on the crossoad, you will see a sign on your left for an english school (Moto : Learn is fun) on your right hand sign, turn immediately and follow the track; The Villa is right near the primary school.

• From Mombasa (150 km) : Drive south to Tanzanian border (Lunga lunga) and go towards Tanga. Then take direction Pangani. After 40 kms on the Pangani Road, you will see a sign on your left for an english primary school (Moto : Learn is fun) on your right hand sign, turn immediately and follow the track; The Villa is right chose the primary school.

 

BY BUS :

There is a frequent bus service from Arusha and Dar es Salaam to Tanga or Muheza. The journey by bus will take about 7 hours. Cost is less than $ 15 per person one way. A taxi can be hired from Tanga to Choba or we can organise your transfer .

 

•  Scandinavian Bus Lines run daily to and from Dar es Salaam and arrive in Tanga early afternoon. Buses to Dar es Salaam depart from Tanga at 8:00 AM. Other bus companies run regularly to Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Mombasa. Local buses and dala dalas; (minibuses) run regularly between Tanga and Pangani (45 km), just ask to stop in Choba village and enquire for the english primary school about 1km through the surrounding coconut plantations.

 

BY BOAT FROM -TO ZANZIBAR

Going by boat is a highly recommended way of getting to and from Pangani. If you have an evening departure from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar, there is full and leisurely day to enjoy a little of Zanzibar at the same time.

 

Travelling to Zanzibar or back is from now on a lot easier. Comfortable and safe transfers on the new speedboat! The 225 HP engine will bring max. 18 passengers safe, dry and quick to your destination. The boat is equipped with life jackets,  radio,  GPS and  25 HP spare engine. If you are a little group, this will be also the best economical way to reach the island...
